New Car Insurance Quotes – Adding a New Car to Your Policy

When you purchase a new car, your car insurance company will need to be notified so you can have coverage on your policy for your new vehicle. New vehicles are not automatically added to your policy. It is quite simple to do and should be done in a very timely manner so that you are not out driving around without coverage.

All that is needed is to contact your agent or company to get a car insurance quote with your new vehicle added to your policy. In some cases, if you currently have comprehensive coverage, the rate for adding a new vehicle will only increase by a few dollars a year. Recently, we added a new car to our policy and the rate only increased $8 per year for complete comprehensive coverage. That $8 per year is money very well spent.

To complete adding the vehicle to your policy, you will need to provide your agent with the year and make of the car, the milage on the vehicle, as well as the model and VIN number. You may also get a lower rate on your car insurance if you have put a larger down payment on the vehicle and are financing a lower dollar amount so that the insurance company is at a lower risk of financial loss in the event that your vehicle is totalled or needs to be replaced.

If you maintain a good credit rating and you have your car insurance bundled with your homeowners coverage you can save even more money with some companies.
