Tax Return Forms Are Free Downloads

Internal Revenue Service forms are available via several ways and shouldn’t cost you anything. You can get IRS forms electronically or on paper. All post offices stock the paper forms. Generally your state internal revenue office will have both federal and state forms on hand. Some of the professional tax form prep offices will let you acquire forms from them. You may also ask the IRS to fax or mail forms to you.

Electronic forms in PDF file type are available on line at http://www.irs.gov. Click the Forms and Publications button close to the top left hand corner of the web page. On that page you’ll find links to numerous indexes of IRS forms.

The PDF file type  of digital forms call for a PDF reader application. There are a few available free of cost. The most commonly used is the Adobe Acrobat Reader. There’s a link for it on any of the site pages that list forms. Look for a button with a stylized “A” and text saying Get Adobe Reader.

The income tax return form almost all taxpayers are able to complete is the1040A, U.S. Individual Income Tax Return.  If you’re without children or other qualifying dependents you may complete an IRS 1040EZ form.  That’s also called the Income Tax Return for Single and Joint Filers With No Dependents.  It is a shorter model of the 1040A form but restricted to those who meet the requirements. All of the different Internal Revenue Service forms can be found on line in addition to the two short versions noted above. This includes the forms business owners, people who work for themselves, and investors will require.
