What is the required P90X workout equipment? Here’s a little background information.
P90X creater Tony Horton designed the 12 workouts that come with the program to be something that could be performed at home with just a few simple pieces of equipment. You won’t need to invest in any of those expensive home gym systems like the Bowflex, Bio Force TNT or Total Gym. With the help of the P90X program, you will get to where you want to be with your physical condition.
What makes P90X different than most other in-home workouts is that Tony Horton utilizes the muscle confusion principle. This is probably the first home workout advertised on an infomercial that has introduced America and for that matter the world, to this valid training protocol.
There are 12 videos in the system that will see you through a 12 week/90 day program and deliver a lean, stacked body. You will actually find that it works well!
Just get the right P90X workout equipment to succeed with your fitness goals – this can include:
* A set of good quality resistance bands
- Chin up bar
*Either perfect push-up set or push-up stands
If you do not have resistance bands, dumbbells can work just fine as well. However, with the exception of all the plate changing, more than one dumbbell set is required. You can purchase the Bowflex Select Tech Dumbbells, but they are not cheap!
The Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells for example offers resistance from 5 pounds to 52.5 pounds, and they will run you $399. A good set of resistance bands, like the Bodylastics Terrel Owens bands, can provide anywhere from 5 to 249 pounds of resistance. Yet you’ll pay less than $100 and have a lifetime warranty against any defects.
So whats the the best P90X needed equipment?
My personal preference is for the resistance bands, in part because of the price, but mostly because I like how easy they are to carry on trips and they are far more versatile than dumbbells. Anyone who is in the market for a nice set of resistance bands should look at these two options: The Gold’s Gym Resistance Bands or Bodylastics Home Gym will work just fine. Of the two the Bodylastics offers more options.
Now, turning to the chin-up bar. you have a lot to work with in terms of alternatives. Pull downs can be accomplished with the resistance bands, and you will not have to do pull ups or chin ups. Or you can purchase a simple doorway chin up bar for around $20, and it will work just as well as the $50 P90X chin-ups bar.
When it comes to push-ups do you really need push up stands or a perfect push-up? The answer is it depends. Both of these items will reduce the strain on your wrists and allow you to go deeper in your push-ups on the other hand, you can do push-ups between two chairs and get the same results. The nice thing about the perfect push-up and the stands are that they’re both relatively cheap and you should be able to find a set for $30 or less.
The incredible part is, that utilizing this type of equipment into your muscle confusion workouts makes complete sense from a space and money standpoint.
And that’s really all the equipment you’ll need for a P90X workout, though if you’re working on a hard surface, you may also want to add a floor mat to the list.
